Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic islands which also include the smaller island of Ibiza and the largest of the three islands Majorca with a population of around 75,000 the majority living in Mahon and Ciutadella.

Also known as Minorca the island is situated off the east coast of Spain some 225km southeast of Barcelona, measuring 53km from east to west and 23km from north to south at it’s widest point.  With 220km of coastline and more beaches than the other two Balearic islands put together it is also the quieter of the three islands and makes an idea holiday location for families.

The only airport on the island is Mahon aiport, located in the capital of the island which is also known as Mao by the local’s. With flights from the majority of the UK airports from both the large and budget airlines cheap flights to Menorca are always available much like many other European destinations. Coupled with cheap hotels in Menorca the cost of holidays are very affordable with self catering holidays available for around £150 per person obviously depending on the time of year, hotel and resort chosen.

Climate and weather in Menorca is much like the other Balearic islands and spain with an average daily temperature of 20 degrees C rising to 28 degrees C in July, and an average of 315 sunny days per year.
